John Spooner

John is an owner and Director of HKS Financial Planning. John is a graduate from the Queensland University of Technology, where he completed a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting. He is also a Certified Practicing Accountant, has attained a Diploma of Financial Planning, Certificate IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking and is an Accredited Aged Care Professional™.

John has had many roles in the finance sector, including the Investment Bank Credit Suisse. Before commencing HKS Financial Planning, he was a Financial Planner at Suncorp, where he was awarded “Best Financial Planner” in 2007/08. In 2011, John was awarded “Rising Star of 2011” by Guardian Advice.

John is a member of the HKS Financial Planning investment review committee, a Financial Planner AFP® member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia, Treasurer of the Kelvin Grove Swimming Club and Auditor of the Peugeot Club of Queensland.

John uses his experience and knowledge to complete complex tasks by providing simple and effective strategies that his clients can easily understand. His passion for helping clients and his ability to listen and provide breakthrough service has made him a trusted and highly respected adviser among his clients and peers.

Away from the office, John enjoys a healthy lifestyle, spending time with his family, and is a bit of a coffee connoisseur! John is a member of the Brisbane Golf Club and often plays on his days off.

Born and bred in the city of Sydney, he is a big supporter of the Sydney Roosters and the Blues when Origin rolls around.
